Katie Fisher's Beef Stew

2 tbsp butter |
|
2 lbs beef, cubed |
|
1 large onion |
|
1 clove garlic |
|
4 c boiling water |
|
1 tbsp salt |
|
1 tbsp lemon juices |
|
1 tsp sugar |
|
1tsp Worcestershire sauce |
|
½ tsp pepper |
|
½ tsp paprika |
|
1 or 2 bay leaves |
|
Dash of cloves or allspice |
|
6 carrots, chopped |
|
1 lb. small onions |
|
6 medium potatoes, peeled & diced |
|
½ c cold water |
|
¼ c flour |
Brown meat in butter. Add next 11 ingredients & simmer for 2 hours. Add carrots, onions, potatoes, & paste made of water & flour; cook an additional 30 minutes.
